Observations from the match

1) Onel provides pace and power that adds real danger

2) a three behind pukki of Rashica/Cantwell/Sargent doesn't work

3) the Cardiff fans were impressed by Sargent (Ginger lad) 's work rate

4) Sorenson was starting to pick some better passes in the second half before he was hooked. Gibbs offered fresh legs and looked tidy, but nothing more (at this early stage)

5) there seemed to be some huffing and petulance from our senior players that wasn't helpful.

6) Todd looked committed and busy, at stages a little too much (and at risk of getting sucked into the tetchiness even before it blew up)

7) I think the ref was actually quite kind to us - we got some quite soft free kicks and could easily have been down to 10 men when they were.

8) we need some greater muscle up top if this is how we're playing. Hugill instead of Cantwell or Rashica would have caused more problems and made more space for Pukki.

9) Aaron's looked better when pushed forward, mcLean looked better towards the end when driving forward from waaaay back.

10) none of the players looked particularly individually poor - but they aren't playing effectively as a unit

11) Onel added real pace and purpose that we've been missing for a long, long time.
