This works with me for Virgin, when I ring I go through to cancellations

Tell them I am leaving for Sky, have a real deal ready to quote that I am going for (and would take if needed!) and then they offer something better.
I've not had to go through the process of actually getting in to the notice period before being offered what I'd accept but it does happen.
That's why I always make sure there is a sky deal I'd take just in case lol.

The reverse would probably work with Sky, I know a mate of mine does well with them on their text chat to get cheaper deals.
