I negotiated £7k worth of patio laying down to under £2k, but decided I didn't trust those guys as far as I could spit them.

Opted to do the job myself (I had a stint doing garden landscaping in my 20s) - it seems my fortysomething body is not as fit as it was just over 2 decades ago.

Was wildly cheaper all round tho.

In general tho go for several quotes, and you can tweak the quotes or the work being done from there.
