Put simply, the key metric that defined our lives for the last 2 years

Is garbage. Total garbage. This data - and it's implications - is barely making the news? Surely it should have been obvious some time ago to PHE / SAGE / civil servants / etc, that there was a clear and significant disparity between excess deaths and 'confirmed' deaths? Should we have based policy on excess deaths rather than 'confirmed' once the magnitude of the discrepancy was apparent?
