my experience is you just get used to it with time

I got it when I was 18 cos I stood too close to some speakers at a gig. Freaked me out as there’s no solution and the damage is permanent. Initially would be most noticeable at night when silent so I’d go to sleep with some faint white noise on the radio although I don’t think I did this for more than a few weeks or months max.

After several months your brain just blocks it out and it’s only when I think about it (like when writing this post) or actively notice it or tune into it that it bothers me. For me it just took a bit of time and acceptance but of course everyone’s different. Wish you well.
