To underline a big issue with Norwich’s recruitment, along with St Patrick’s Athletic and Partick Thistle, they were on an online platform for clubs, TransferRoom, advertising for what they wanted in January (two loan players) offering £30k-a-week wage contribution
If Norwich’s recruitment and planning were up to scratch they would not be near anything like that. Poor planning, awful execution. Their narrative they weren’t going to sign anyone in January on dodgy ground given their efforts
Of course, £30k-a-week isn’t going to get you much anyway so finding someone to make a difference for that money is unlikely but they shouldn’t have been pushing the ‘no signings’ narrative to justify the sporting director being away for two weeks.
Ultimately they’ve ended up paying silly money for mercenaries like Normann and Kabak and paying over the odds for Sargent having rejected him for less money earlier last summer.
