It's a shame how it played out. He was brilliant and deserved to have a big club come in for him.

Have no reason to doubt the NCFC line that he demanded to leave and said he would never play again as he did not deny it.

even without that comment he would most likely have got the move anyway, I doubt if Villa found out what he said and then thought, "oh shall we make a bid". after all everyone in football thought he would move.

compare to Maddisons move which if I remember correctly had none of the drama. He was not booed on his return.
