ok formatting buggered that up:
In an unrelated but still social justice front, does the Bar have any schemes to support students from underprivileged backgrounds?
I'm running a placement in the summer for a student on the Unite Foundation scheme (User Posted Link and for reasons unknown they want to be a commercial barrister.
Background means their A-Levels are ropey and at a plus 50 ranked uni. However a First in Yr 1 exams and on track for similar this year, so must be reasonably bright/hard working.
How does a late bloomer from a non-oxbridge/redbrick background get a look in for mini-pupillages etc? Are there any schemes that are geared towards giving people a leg up?
