The discussion is we would have to pay him PL wages for his option.

While others at the club will, I'm assuming getting a pretty big hair cut.

If we had to replace him it would be multiple millions so its tricky.
Personally I think he is still good enough at champs level but if we do well we really need a different option in place.

Long term would we be better to sacrifice the short term and try and build a squad to compete in the PL?
