The context was tongue in cheek...

The drink is named after the Count Camillo Negroni. “Negri” is an Italian word that means “black” and is the origin of his surname. The term originated as a nickname for someone with a dark complexion, perhaps an immigrant from northern Africa. Of course you could have Googled that yourself.

To my honest my post wasn't particular funny in the first place but loses what humour it had when an explanation is required.
