My Reply From Neil Doncaster - Seems Genuine enough

thanks for your email Mark, which is among a number I have received this morning and yesterday following Nigel's post-match comments.

Nigel was asked after the match by the Press what he thought about the positive reception given to himself and the players as they embarked on a lap of the pitch to thank the fans for their support in what has been a disappointing campaign for us all.

He responded by describing those present as "true supporters". This, I believe, was a fair assessment of the thousands of fans who stayed behind to give their backing following a campaign in which expectation has outweighed achievement.

Some supporters have taken umbrage at these remarks, yet Nigel was asked specifically what he thought of the supporters still inside the stadium and gave his views accordingly.

I know from personal experience that Nigel and the players are extremely grateful for all the support they have received this season from every single fan, both home and away.

Indeed, in his programme notes for Sunday's game, Nigel again thanked all supporters, saying: "...I would like to thank all of our loyal fans who have followed the team both home and away this season. On behalf of all the players and staff, thank you for your support."

Club Captain Craig Fleming echoed those views in the same publication, adding: "I would like to thank you all for your support. Once again you've been there in great numbers home and away during an at times frustrating season."

I would also like to take this opportunity on behalf of the Board, staff and myself to add my sincere thanks for your support this season and wish you a happy summer.

We look forward to seeing you next season.

Finally, thank you for your best wishes - i have just been away on hols, so i am looking forward to a busy and hopefully productive summer

best wishes
Neil
