Worthington has had lots more money than any other manager in the past because there's a lot more money around in the Premiership now - hence the massive signing of Ashton (and Earnshaw off the back off Ashton sale). Additionally, when we shelled a lot of money out a few years back it was in light of ITV digital I beleive. Other than that and the promotion season aside when we gambled on future income, Worthy hasn't really had any excessive amount more money than anyone else - hence the poor/cheap signings last summer.
However - none of that removes the fact, that given our resources relative to other teams in this division, such as Preston and Reading, we should've been in the top 6 easily, and it is the fact that we developed a squad which lacked depth and was unbalanced that led to this poor season. And that is the biggest failure of the lot.
