NORWICH CITY are preparing to splash the cash this summer, in a bid to try and return to the Premiership. Nigel Worthington, who has come under fire a lot recently, due to poor performances, and an unexpected finish outside the play off places, has decided that the area of the team that needs strengthening the most is midfield. It has rumoured that the Canaries have already agreed a ?750,000 deal for QPR midfielder Lee Cook.

The Canaries have struggled this season to make an impression, currently lying 9th in the table with one game of the Championship season remaining. The midfield catalyst has not performed as well as Worthington would have liked, with only Moroccan Youssef Safri being able to create something in that area of expertise. It is this problem therefore that has made the Canaries eager to sign up Cook. He has been instrumental in QPR?s hopes for a good finish this season, playing in 34 games and scoring 6 goals.

QPR?s Gary Waddock has already insisted that he is keen to keep the midfielder, however admitted that if the Canaries, or other rumoured clubs Sheffield United and Wolves did come knocking, he would be powerless to stop the midfielder from leaving.

?I will not want to let him go because he is a quality player,? said Waddock. ?But we all know the financial situation of the football club and if a big offer does come in for Lee Cook then money does talk.?

Norwich however, are rumoured to have already made a bid for Cook, and it seems like that he will be visiting Carrow Road for contract talks within the next week
