They are the gambles that you hope one will hit the ground running and another one or two will improve over time and at least maintain their value.
They haven't worked so far, but I suppose there is some potential there. Some of the other signings though like Gunn, PLM, Gibson, Hugill are much more difficult to understand. They are players who are not cheap, who aren't up to the level required, and who are not at an age where they're going to improve. Yet they should be the core of the team who take most of the burden while the younger long term prospects get settled in.
