There must have been some kind of falling out

and farke wants cantwell to demonstrate his commitment or whatever.

Regardless of the circumstances, i would be astonished if it's not entirely within Cantwell's gift to resolve.

But that's just based on my perception that Farke seems to be a fair person, not someone that would hold an unreasonable grudge. Maybe that's not right?

When you look back through Farke's reign, people that get a bit too big for their boots don't play. Nelson, etc.

If Cantwell trains well, I can't imagine Farke would leave him out.
