It's hard to shake the feeling that this brilliant crop of youngsters

plus the signing of Pukki and Buendia was the perfect storm - and huge praise must go to everyone involved in getting this talent through the door one way or another.

But everything since suggests that 'the model' is not really capable of regenerating itself to the same standards. There have been very few, if any, great signings since - bar Skipp on loan - and the current team looks worse than the 18-19 Championship winners. It certainly plays worse.

Again, I'm not suggesting that our initial success was down to luck, but I'm also not sure where the fruits of this approach are coming from next.
