FWIW I remain a fan of the Webberlution. Whenever he talks about culture, metrics, management of people and so on he makes an awful lot of sense, and in particular an awful lot more sense than those who say "sAcK tHeM aLl In ThE fAcE".

There's a perception that FIFAxx is somehow reflective of reality, that if something isn't working you "just" sack someone/play someone else/sell someone/buy someone. The thing is that all these "someone"s are people, and you don't manage actual people like that if you want to a) get anywhere or b) be a decent human being.

No, modern football isn't rocket science; but it is complex and multidimensional and simple "solutions" to complex problems are rarely right. "Surely it would all work if we just..." is a signifier that the rest of the sentence probably doesn't make sense.
