Not a football stream...one with water.

Random question but does anyone know a simple (i.e. cost-effective) way to support the banks of a small stream? There is a local parcel of land with a stream and the sloped banks have slipped over time. Stream is less than a yard wide. Local community are looking at planting some trees, etc. along the banks but need to reinforce the banks first.

Something as natural as possible (wood/stones, etc.) and that a bunch of individuals could attempt, ideally, as there is no room for large machinery.
