I don’t really see why 4-2-3-1 would be any better than 4-3-3 was, which left us so exposed. The 4-3-3 should have been more robust given it should be a 4-5-1 without the ball.

We’ll have to agree to disagree. For me 4-2-3-1 was designed for Emi (look at Villa struggling to accommodate him), I agree it would work as a formation with better players, but not players we could afford.
