"Fixing the defence" was always a bit of a red herring

The goals we were conceding were mainly due to individual errors. I was always confident that would improve, because those players wouldn't have reached this level if they kept making those sort of errors each week.
The main problem was and is our lack of anything up front that is Prem standard. In those 10 games after the restart last time we scored 1 solitary goal. If we had "fixed the defence" and kept a clean sheet in every single one of those games we would still have been comfortably relegated. We haven't addressed that problem at all really. People say Farke can now turn his attention to scoring goals, but when he does he'll still find that our striking options are Pukki, Sargeant & Idah. I simply cannot see how that does not guarantee relegation?
