Ironically I think he played too many attacking midfielders

At the expense of controlling the middle of the pitch.

He will no doubt use it now as an excuse to revert to type. Didn’t need 4 attacking mids plus Kane. 3 would be fine. But his obsession with playing Mount for every second of every game perhaps got in the way.
