"controversial" statements, then members of general public who for the last 5 years cannot avoid being outraged by every opinion other than their own (whether that opinion is even genuine or not) get massively triggered and fall into the trap.

All very childish really. Just a different version of the s**t clickbait "articles" with bold statements about "This 12 year old is better than Ronaldo" or "Here is the team Man Utd could put out next season if Ole signs 15 players we randomly picked from a hat", and all the outraged responses (most of which haven't even read the "article").

Generates traffic to said clickbait (including O'Hara's s**te) thereby generating ad revenue for his employer.

Incredible that's where 2 million years of evolution have led us.
