Dunno, that's why I'd love to know what was going on

I'm sure like most footballers he's ambitious and having had a taste of the Prem, wanted more. But then why sign a contract extension? He doesn't strike me as the greedy type. I'd guess he'd have been pissed off at the service he was getting, although he did miss chances at the beginning of the season. Then there's the mysterious yet very convenient minor strain he picked up just before the Cup game, which ensured his transfer to West Ham.

I wish him well, but with the nagging suspicion that he may have done a Francis on us (alternatively, we don't know the full Francis story, so he may well have done a perfectly reasonable Ashton on us, although Francis did seem to give up on us around Christmas in the Prem)
