Ok so no Sado, Mo or Virgil but we need to remember that despite some younger players Liverpool had three players who cost £130m between them and one who cost £10m 7 years ago. Their youngest cost £1m rising to £3m.

And don’t forget that a team like Liverpool can , like Man City or Man Utd , pick the best players for their academy, they have a massive catchment area and much more money than we do so can afford to only recruit the top youngsters.

It would be interesting to know how much money those teams put into the academy compared to what we can afford.

having said that some of our defending was quite terrible, no one marking Minimino for the first, two central defenders missed the cross for the second and lack of positioning for the third
