Back at last; Where do we go from here? ... is it down to the lake I fear?

That wasn't the glorious return to our old season ticket seats in the Lower Barclay C Block that WY Jnr. and I were looking forward to!!

Disappointing would be applying an undeserved gloss to a dispiriting and worrying performance against a very youthful Liverpool 'B' Team. At times it was men against boys... and the 16 year olds in red weren't the boys!!

The ridiculous thing is Liverpool created very little but were gifted three goals through our current inept level of defending. If we'd scored the penalty it "could" have been a different game... not saying it would, but it could. Same for PLM's glorious chance at the start of the 2nd half, but within 2 minutes, Liverpool had gone two up instead.

Few positives out of that even though the change in formation might have given the impression of being more solid... not if you keep making simple errors, though! In possession, Gibson and Hanley both look like cats on hot tin roofs, playing with an even hotter potato. Andrew O looked the most comfortable, even though he's the least experienced.

Giannoulis looks good going forward, but wasn't great defensively. Mumba looked out if his depth and poor Adam Idah isn't going to be moving up the attacking pecking order on last night's performance.

The midfield huffed and puffed but I'm still concerned that Billy Gilmour has more of a touch of the Emporer's New Clothes about him. LR7 watch - he did ok, he's not setting the world on fire but did some hard work and broke up play, including some 'good' fouls.

I'm always pretty positive, but it's worrying. We've gone from looking like world beaters, albeit against lesser opposition, to looking like we wouldn't have the energy or strength to beat a carpet!

I'm hoping beyond hope that Farke can turn it round because I don't want to consider the possible alternatives. I'm hoping this is the early season clunkyness that has happened each year and that things might click... you've got to have hope, right?

Anyway, to cap the night off, we had diversions off the A11 through Newmarket and off the M25 through Wrotham... hence the even-later-than-normal write up.

And, if anyone is still reading, no pre game COVID checks and no sign of any either. Apart from WY Jnr and I, only about 3 or 4 others wearing masks. I make no comment, just reporting facts.
