Hmmm...I would want to know the context. Are they being excited on someone else's behalf?

Are they excited for all the learning that your child will experience that year? (acceptable) Or are they excited for all the marvellous learning they are going to head that year? (unacceptable).

In any case, I probably wouldn't condone shooting them over it. Bring it up at Parents' Evening - they'll appreciate that.

By the way, they number of children that spell it 'exited' - drove me crazy!
