It’s not irrelevant is it because if the keeper wasn’t ever going to play the ball then

Cantwell didn’t prevent him from being able to play the ball. Did he?

For him to be interfering with play his presence in the keepers line of sight (which in itself isn’t clear as the ball was above them) needs to have prevented the keeper from being able to play the ball.
