It’s the small club tariff isn’t it.

Refs subconsciously will always give the benefit of the doubt to the “big” club, I think it’s easy to give marginal decisions against a club like us. Give a stinker against a big club and there will be a big backlash. Headlines, hostility, a perception you’re not a good ref that needs the big games, you’re a s**t ref that can’t handle the pressure of games of that magnitude. Human nature I suppose, but given the way VAR operates to only overturn clear and obvious (just as you said) zero reason to think it’s going to change.
