Yeah unlocked is only about SIM supported. Talking about frequency. Used to be

US smartphones and European versions supported difference spectrums. With 3G certainly you’d have trouble with that between US and Europe.

With iPhones I know they basically support all used spectrums these days (4G at least). Would imagine same with high end androids (Samsung etc).

But cheaper ones might still have that issue. If it’s a frequency issue then the SIM locked / unlocked (do they still even do that?) question isn’t even relevant.
