Rashica, Tzolis, PLM, Sargent all come to us with great workrate stats for winning the ball back up the pitch. Defending is done across the whole pitch.
Yesterday we looked like we were caught between our old tactics and whatever new style we're looking to develop - which left big gaps in the middle of the park. Stuffing Skipp in there would only help in that he's more familiar with how the defensive set up, but I'm not sure it would have made a difference (yesterday). Having PLM and Gilmour really in tune with each other will help (Rupp/McLean/Sorenson too) knowing when to push forward and when they do, who drops back. It's also pretty important how the front 2/3 gel in terms of when and how the midfield break to support the attacks.
Ultimately Liverpool were the more settled side yesterday and that made a big difference too (apart from the obvious that they're a top notch side).
Would still love to see Skipp (or similar) back.
