Accrington (conference darlings) thought he'd been kicking his heels since leaving Crewe - he hadn't he'd playing in Iceland (not the frozen food shop) but neglected to declare it.
They never played him in their first team, then sold him to Altrincham. They assumed all the necessary checks had ben done by Accy, so played him. In the 13 games he played in, they won 15 points.
He then joined an Australian club, and the Aussie FA found the problem.
Now, Accy will just get a fine for their part. The Conference league committee have deducted 18 points (more than Altrincham gained) which will almost certainly see them relegated, thus probably saving Forest Green Rovers (not for the first time in controversial circumstances). Guess whose chairman is on the league committee ?
Yup, FGR's.
