Depends on the demand as well. And of course if

we think we can replace him, and whether he actually wants to leave or not.

For example - if we can get 20m this year for him, but only 8m next year it’s still worth holding on if we believe he is critical to our chances of staying up and we aren’t confident of adequately replacing him immediately for less than we sold (or even for slightly more).

However doesn’t he have a year plus an option on the club side for a second year? So not going to lose value too quickly?

But of course if he wants to leave then it doesn’t make sense to hold on to an unwilling player if you can get a few for him. Same for next season. His value might drop but if we are not relegated then he might be far more likely to either stay, or to have performed to such a standard that he would only want to leave for a big club (not villa).

So. Basically. No idea!
