I think at points the limitations of our squad showed through, but equally we had that brilliant away win at Spurs and the 3-3 against Arsenal (penultimate game of the season).

That was the best season we've had in the PL in the last 25 years.

However, notwithstanding my recollection of that season is a little different, I think you're right that we would have gone down under Lambert had he stayed. That's how all PL stays will end up for clubs the size of ours.
