Might be a bit/lot of a dim question

If you travel direct from France to the UK you need to quarantine for 10 days. If you go to e.g. Germany for 10 days, can you then travel to the UK without the need to quarantine? How many days would you need to have not been in France for before you can travel to the UK without quarantining?
