Basically, we're not going to spaff a load of money at a player who is not better than Hanley/Gibson and that bringing in a loan which might block Andy O isn't too appealing either.
As you say, if we can't get one of the top tier guys in we'll be keeping our eyes out for a bargain who needs to prove themselves (or who we can nip in under the radar to secure without getting into a bidding war).
What I find fascinating is that they're really pushing the Hugill to Forest line - which worries me more, as I still think it was a shame last time out we couldn't get Rhodes back. With a choice between a player who is familiar with the team and a Drmic style punt, I'd prefer the familiar face tbh.
