the actual arsed professional referee wasn't sure if he was offside so made a judgement call so the player couldn't be sure either. what was he supposed to do, tap it out just in case? i get that you've nailed your colours to the VAR mast and will die in a ditch over it rather than concede it is not perfect but get a wee bit of a grip ffs nothing is perfect. apart from sir cliff richards.
