That wasn't a great German team anyway (we're poor at the 94 and 98 World Cups) and were severely weakened for that semi with 5 or 6 first choice players injured or suspended. Plus we were at home and went ahead early. And still didn't win. If Venables was any good he'd have won that tournament as it totally lacked an outstanding team.
