I thought that the 8 team tournaments sounded nifty

Short, sharp.
The games matter.

I prefer knock out tournaments to these mini league hybrids.

But then, as I think I've said on here before, I like watching for the unpredictability and upsets. Anything which seriously skews the end stages to the same old sides just seems grindingly boring.
