So 32 teams will play at least three games as before while the extra 16 just play two. Far fewer dead games as well.
So there *is* some logic to this approach and 31 knockout games is amazing.
But as others hav said, uit really dioes feel like the chances of a carve up in the first round are greatly increased.
Not sure what the best approach is to avoid that happening. Do you have the weakest team play their two games first? If the better two teams play first, there will be *a lot* of draws you would think.
Or perhaps you go:
A v C
A v B
B v C
... then the seeding theory would be that the poorer two teams are in a straight shootout for second place.
In other news, perhaps I should so some work.
