Absence making the heart grow fonder etc.

While returning to Norfolk to see family is lovely, I don't think I'd want to live there. (no offence, its just that I kind of think that the deeper roots come from the people, and I've now got deep ties here).

The area of the Midlands I grew up in had beautiful countryside, but the town (kidderminster), which was never great, has now become an absolute s**thole, so no nostalgia there - and everyone who could move out did move out.

I guess its more marked crossing borders as the cultural/language stuff starts to kick in more.
