What if Delia and MWJ, upset by the personal verbal attacks on her, decides that she's not prepared to accept it, and stands down, calling in all of the loans that are owing.
The Club are then forced to pay back many millions of interest free loans, taking up all of the last Premiership parachute payment. Suddenly there's nothing to spend, no benefactor, and nobody prepared to take their place. The Club's then in freefall, the much admired 'togetherness' in tatters. Debts that were previously servicable, are in an instant, unaffordable.
This results in urgent player sales, the core of the team are sold to cover the loans, the promising youngsters released. In the League, the team's in freefall. The expectations of fans are unable to be realised by the players that are left, the inevitable relegation follows. Season tickets then fall to less than 5,000, attendances drop to 11,000, and commercial revenues destroyed.
The remaining Board members express support for the management team, highlighting the need for stability and consistency. Nigel Worthington remains as the manager to take the Club 'forward'.
