They are clearly going to throw money at improving the squad every year, hefty net spend every season. My guess is that they’ve given Emi a big sales pitch about future direction, to point where they seem a much better prospect than Arsenal.

I was hoping he would go to Atheltico, but guess there’s f**k all money in Spanish footy right now, just bloated clubs with serious debt. Ditto Italy probably, thanks to CV. So if the proper big four didn’t want him (yet), that does kind of leave Villa.
