My observation would be that (as someone in their mid forties) there was a marked change of tactic around when I got my first dose.
When there was all the blood clot stories in the press, we had a day in which quite a lot of people just did not show. At that point they had offered to all the over fifties and then were looking at 45 and overs.
Although there was no official explanation they pretty rapidly opened it up 'for people who wanted it' down the ages groups.
I think they took the view that once you'd done the over 50s the relative risks below that mattered less than getting them into arms ASAP.
It also created a bit of an interesting social slant in which people who'd skipped their jab or were a bit hesitant, saw lots of their peers and younguns getting vaccinated and (anecdotally) suddenly were keener and had a FOMO.
Case rates have (touch wood) been meandering in the sub 20 (often sub 10) per 100k for a little while now. If we can hold it low until the summer hols I think we'll be in decent shape.
Hopefully.
Thanks for sharing the podcast, it was an interesting analysis and kind of fits with what I'd seen.
