I think that's partly why this is such a rare situation

One of the reasons Max/Emi are in such high demand is that they have already played Prem football. The usual circumstances for newly promoted teams is that the bigger boys will want to see how they do in the Prem first. And if you get relegated they will make their move to pick them off then. It is very unusual for relegated teams to be able to hang on to in-demand players as we did (I certainly didn't expect it) and it is that - which worked out great for us of course - which has created this sort-of-peculiar situation.
