How to stop the "boom & bust" cycle - NCFC

So, this has been my 50th season of watching. During which, I've seen my team get promoted to the top tier , and relegated from it, many times. It reminds me of the economic cycle of boom & bust, which I've also watched for a lifetime.

What can be done to get a proper foothold in the top tier ? When the game wasn't all about money, it was easier, but nowadays, unless there is about half a billion pounds to spend on players & wages, I sadly think that the answer is "nothing". It looks like we're going to try again what we've always done before. In other words,( after selling some prized assets) hope that most of the squad can step up to the challenge, and bring in a some players costing under £10 million, to hope they can do likewise. It doesn't usually work ( think van Wolfswinkel, Hooper, Helveg). Or older top-tier players past their best ( Nasmith !). Unless you're lucky enough to be bedding in a big crop youth-bred payers who will all hit the top ( like Man U class of '92) I see no solution. So I guess that frequent promotions and relegations will always be a part of life as an NCFC fan.
