The best international teams have always tended to draw from just a handful of teams.
I look at our squad and think there's a bunch of decent players, but I don't think they've gelled into a unit.
This is very apparent each time we come up against a decent side. We're then almost entirely reliant on a bit of individual genius.
Our 3 know each others runs /movement and it unlocks defences.
Even then, having onel or Plachetta is still important for varying it up.
Not sure how best the England guys can be moulded into a team, but I don't think that foden/grealish/mount mesh very well together or with Kane. They're all talented no doubt, but a bit samey.
And a bit showboaty.
We kind of need a Stiepy or a Sheringham to knit it together and bring people in.
