The Mail does ok because despite its socially conservative Tutter Of Tunbridge Wells roots it's effectively become a central hub for online Celebrity TNA which people can still get away with viewing in public. The FT does OK because it's demographic will pay. The Grauniad has the Scott Trust so doesn't really need to make any money. Not sure anyone else is really rocking the new business models. But there is no alternative, and a finite volume of online ad money, and a massive player in Google trying to hoard all of that to itself, and a massive wannabe in Facebook trying to do likewise.
