Wouldn't follow the herd, but I do take note when something is popular.

Doesn't mean I will like it, too. Love Island is popular but I know I'm not going to enjoy that! But if it's popular and it's either a genre I love or is recommending by friends who have similar tastes, then I will definitely give it a go (when I have time - there is so much to watch these days).
