I have been to West Memphis and it is really odd

I was staying in Memphis and decided to drive across the Mississippi to tick off Arkansas as a state I’d visited. The river side of the town is really run down, obviously at one point it was prosperous being near the river and Memphis itself. Lots of abandoned buildings and houses in desperate need of repair, I found it spooky, unsafe and wanted to leave ASAP. I wonder if this case also affected the town in the long run. However the west side of West Memphis was the complete opposite, a brand new school with top sporting facilities and nice houses. A microcosm of the have and have nots in the US.
