Not sure to be honest.

While the two career areas are, on the face of it, very different, in both cases I would be working with numbers, equations and code and the differences between the two career areas are mostly superficial.

I think the older I've got the more I've come to appreciate that the thing that really impacts how much you enjoy a job and fit in is the people you are working with, and you obviously have only so much control over that - it's a bit of a lottery.
